WonderSwan was a handheld game console produced by Bandai. Released in 1999, it was known for its unique horizontal screen orientation and relatively inexpensive price point. The system featured a variety of genres, appealing to both casual and hardcore gamers.  Many titles were role-playing games, strategy games, and action titles. Some games were ports of popular titles from other consoles, while others were original releases.  While not as commercially successful as Nintendo's Game Boy, the WonderSwan boasted a dedicated following and a solid library of games. Its unique screen orientation made it stand out from competitors, though it was not widely adopted.
